Default Massachusetts Bill Would Lift Sunday Hunting Ban

I spotted this at another site and figured that y'all Mass. boys would like to hear about it . Hammer your state Senators and Representatives with calls and e-mails and Sunday hunting can be yours . Good luck !Massachusetts Bill Would Lift Sunday Hunting BanBOSTON, MA-A proposal currently before the Massachusetts legislature would allow Sunday hunting statewide.House Bill 4517, sponsored by Democratic Rep. Anne Gobi, would repeal the state's ban on Sunday hunting. The bill was introduced in late November and is currently awaiting action in the state's Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security.Thirty-nine states currently allow Sunday hunting, while 11 states prohibit or heavily restrict it. Supporters say Sunday hunting provides an additional day in the field, which can be a great opportunity for sportsmen and sportswomen who work during the week.Massachusetts sportsmen should contact their state representatives and encourage them to support HB 4517. To contact your representative, call (617) 727-7030 or use the "Legislative Action Center" on the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance Web site at www.ussportsmen.org.In related news, the Maryland Legislative Sportsmen's Foundation celebrated the third year of Sunday hunting in the state by hosting its annual deer hunt on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. The 25 deer harvested during the hunt were donated to the Maryland Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry program.

I have known about this since October before the bill was announced. My dad is a representative of our club at the Worcester County League of Sportsmen's Clubs and can you believe they wont take a position on the bill and all these years the league has worked hard to get Sunday hunting in MA. My dad is disgusted with them. They said Sunday hunting might cause hunters to lose land open to hunting because they don't want hunting 7 days a week or something like that. BS if you ask me.

That is the shortest bill I have ever seen. Usually bills have all this fancy wording, etc. but this bill just says C.131 S.57 of the MGL's is repealed.

Here is the bill:

Here is C.131 S.57:

A Mass. Animal Cruelty has all the MA bills that affect animals, including hunting bills and whether or not oppose them.

I found a bill that would mean a moose hunting season in specified counties. I think Worcester is as far east as it goes.

House 1278:

There are other bills that affects hunters and fishermen that I will try to find. My dad has a list since he is on the WCLSC like I stated above.
