Default deer kill down 1000 in vermont

but this was expected because they made a new law saying you couldnt shoot any spike horns. i personly like the new law i didnt first weekend when there was a spike horn 10 yards in front of me put thats hutning i hope this means there will be more deer and bigger deer in the future what do you guys think

You are right on. In a year or two it will be worth it. Good things take time and in the mean time hunt other states.

Hang tough VT folks. It will be a hard few years, but a change was needed. Hopefully it will work out for the better in the long run.

CAN'T GET MUCH WORSE THAN IT'S BEEN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.I BOW HUNT VT.,BUT HAVE BEEN DOING MY RIFLE HUNTING IN MAINE.HOPEFULLY IN A COUPLE OF YEARS,AND WITH SOME HABITAT IMPROVEMENTS,AS WELL AS TRYING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE COYOTE PROBLEM,WE'LL GET BACK TO SOME DECENT HUNTING.

sorry, but i don't know where your numbers are coming from. at last report, the kill was just over 2500 for rifle season, which makes it 50% lower than last years kill, which would be expected with the foolish law they passed. and if the projected harvest for antlered bucks continues as such, and they follow standard qdm guidelines, you can expect that number to climb to perhaps 3/4 of last years numbers, and not much more.all of the qdm biologists that i have ever spoken with have said the same, including those biologists that sit upon the board of qdma. can never, will never reach past levels of buck harvests, they have said, because in their words that's how the game is played. ask them for yourself. the only ones that will truly be happy with this situation are those fortunate to have access to posted chunks of land with limited pressure.
