Default two bucks locked up, both alive

I know some of you guys dig this stuff, so do I. I figured Id let you all know I took in another set of locks at my studio here in western NY state. Both deer were alive and the guy and his buddy shot them. It was a funny story, as theyd just shot a doe and he thought he was running down a struggling doe that wasnt quite dead yet. When he got closer to the commotion, it was the two bucks locked up. Based on my previous experience with locks, Id GUESSTIMATE theyd only been locked up a short amount of time, as they had damage and wear marks, but were still in good shape otherwise. I seem to get a set in almost every year now. That tells me the buck numbers are up, and theres competition between bucks. I know, not everyone agrees with that, but...Ill stick with it. Anyway, thought you guys might want to know about the cool locks.

I've seen many deer fights but never any that were locked together.

Here's a couple of pictures of two racks locked up that my buddy found just after the 2003 season in Essex County, NY. One's a 10 and the other is an 8. He found them right next to one of his watches while snowmobiling a few weeks after the close of the season. He figures it happened right near the end of the season as he sat on that watch on Thanksgiving morning of that year. Coyotes had pretty much eaten everything but the heads so he hauled them out and cut the horns of the heads. Too bad someone couldn't have put a tag on either of them during the season.

Wow. Both those racks look like both deer would have been an exceptional animal. Its ashame they got locked and died, but atleast your buddy was lucky enough to find the antlers.
