More people in the woods, moving deer around, could be the cold yesterday.Nobody wanted to sit too long.More out this AM. Usually today(Tuesday) I would see nobody, but at least 4 other hunters on the ridge.I took a nice button today on the doe tag,now it's time to hunt the horns.Meat in the freezer, time to hunt for fun.

Well, my take on the changes is that where we hunted(4c-Hoosick) there seemed to be less hunters around than on a normal Monday opener. At one large tract of State Land there were considerably less hunters than usually would be there. Maybe alot of hunters thought there would be so many hunters out on a Saturday opener that they decided to stay home. Overall, I'd have to say it went off pretty well. Just my .02 cents.

I agree - it felt strange having to shuffle all the bow stuff out and the gun stuff in overnight for the Saturday opener. I suppose we'll get used to it.

I thought there were more guys in the woods than normal (judging by the number of trucks parked alongside the roads), but not a lot of shooting. Sunday morning was absolutely dead.

First of all let me say I am glad that there has been been only one shooting and that it was self inflicked, unfortunatley the man died my haret felt prayers go out to his family.

Second I did NOT get to use my rifle to hunt the opening 2 days, do to the fact that our sitter back out on us and I didn't want my wife to sit home on her first ever opening day.

Third I don't know if this is the right place for this but here is our first 2 days.

Well our gun season is 2 days under way, Little Ang her father and I went out 5:30 Am I got her in her first ever treestand helped her get the shotgun up to her and went over to my stand. About 7:30 A couple of Doe walked right under me but with no permits for doe I had to let them walk, we all had radios so I called my father -in -law and told him the doe were on there way over to him but, they must have taken a different route.

I ask Ang how she was doing and she said she was ok ( took a little getting use to the height) but she settled in fine. 9:00 rolled around and Ang was getting coll so we broke for coffee, went back to the house about 300 yds away had breakfast got warmed up and went back put her in the stand again waited there till about 12:00 went for lunch, Ang was a little disappointed but was enjoying the outdoors and the exercise which was quite strenuous for her with all her gear.

Day 2 was about the same except when we broke for lunch we desided to put on a small drive, after lunch I took Ang and one of her father doe taggs and put her in my stand hoping that the drive would push one of the does back to her and she could get a deer but to no avail. Day 2 come and gone and Little Ang is disappointed but I told her in all the years I have been hunting I have only taken 5 deer and have seen only a few more than that. She is still having fun and is hoping to get back into a stand on Wednesday as she has only 2 days work this week and the rest off.
