Default Vermonters: Any luck yet?

I saw a doe on Sunday and some signs that a buck had been in the area. How did everyone else fare?

I kind of expect the kill to be down from last year since spikes are now off limits. I really hope the no spike rule isn't resulting in deer being shot and left.

I haven't even hunted yet in Vermont and not sure I will this year. I has been a long time since I hunted Vermont before last year, I've been gone for 9 years. I put in over 120 hours last year in Rutland County (Clarendon) and only saw 2 bucks in areas I would see 10-15 when I was a kid. I may end up going out for a few days t-day weekend, not sure yet.

VTBuck3006:

Where do you live and hunt? I live in Albany now, but grew up in Clarendon and Shrewsbury, and my soon to be inlaws live in Chittendon on Powerhouse Rd.

Haha......I know all the property well that you used to hunt. I grew up on the corner of Haven Hill and East in the green cape acrossed from Alderman's horse farm just a few miles away. I know all the property on bump road well, and do most of my VT hunting just down the road at Spencers farm about 2 miles down the road from the top of bump rd.

Wildcat rd is out there in the sticks, I have spotted a LOT of moose up there from the road, that place is packed with cabins too.

"kind of expect the kill to be down from last year since spikes are now off limits. I really hope the no spike rule isn't resulting in deer being shot and left. " news flash: it's happening all over, deer being left in the woods! just two quick examples: second day of season, i found a nice five point someone had shot, and left in the woods, but who ever did it took the hindquarters and backstraps, coyotes took the rest..today while speaking with my father, he told me how according to his friend, who is friends with a warden in chittenden county, so far this season they have found 90 spikehorns dead in the woods, in that county alone. how many haven't been found, or went home? told Lacockroche, i mean laroche about the one i found, didn't even have a warden contact me to ask where it was. boy, sure feel our herd is safe in his hands, don't you! until that cockroach is out of his office as the head man, we will find a lot more cases like those above happening.

That has got to be the biggest load of phooey I have heard in a while.
"Someone heard from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a warden" LMAO Its like that game you play to see how messed up a story gets when it is passedaround. Do yourself a favor and try to not pass on 4 generation hearsay as gospel. Thats how probably 2 dead spikes (still not acceptable)turned into 90. If youdidn't have it out so bad for Laroche you might actually be believable.
