My understanding is the reason there is a season for Crows has something to do with the mexican government being insulted with american and canadian farmers openly killing of these birds because they were a problem. To respect this, a season with limits was placed on the harvesting of crows.

I know of a couple of people who have eaten crow, and neither of them had positive things to say.

Try it some time and I think you'll see why. They come into a call pretty good and it can get pretty loud when you have a large group come in all agitated. They are challenging to hit, but a lot of fun to go after. I know a trapper who loves to use them as bait, and ask any farmer what they think of them when they are trying to get seed in the ground. The best reason to hunt crows is you often do it when most other seasons are over and it makes for a great time in the outdoors.

Hunting crows is one of my favorite things to do. There is a lot of action. We just leave the crows and a fox or coyote will pick them up.
