Lost my deer land in NJ

Well I just became victim of NJ. My landowner wont let anyone hunt on his private 68 good acres that is connected to 110 no hunting acres. This all happened today the day before my opening day of bow season. He says that the insurance reasons are why I can't hunt there. Oh well I just have to go to a little spot the my familys friends have on about 8 acres that have a ton of deer on and can't wait till I get out there and get a couple. But this place is not like the other place I lost. Boy Am I bummed. It makes me not want to hunt this year. Well almost. Just had to vent a little.

Hey Rick, Yes this is the horse farm. Well he said no one is going to hunt this area this year. But I thought that I had my other spot that is a friends of the families but just called him and he said that he has other people hunting it and that he would call me if something opened up. Well there goes all my private land that I hunted. Now I really don't feel like hunting this year. This sinks<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Now I guess I have to hunt public land yuck.

I work with a few guys from Tabernackle and they dont have any problem finding places to hunt on public land. I know what it is like but there is a ton of public land in your area. GOOD LUCK

Brian.....That sucks!! I'm sure you will find a new place.
Hunting is in your blood. There is nothing like being up
a tree with bow in hand.

I lost 2 of 3 places in Conn. this year. The good news is
that my uncle just bought 114 acres in Wolcott that borders
state land. I will be leaving Thursday.

I feel for you as our landowner doubled our lease payment on Labor Day weekend. We had to add 3 new members/add some more fund raisers just to keep costs reasonable. If that was not enough, we lost 30 acres across the road that was prime hunting. We now have 5 more guys on property that really can only support about 8 guys---looks like a load of fun!

I am thinking real hard about dropping out next year b/c paying $700/year is an aweful lot. It does include birds and great turkey hunting but this really is a lot of dough.

Does anyone in NJ have FREE access to private land w/o family connections?

This looks like the future of NJ hunting so we may as well get used to it or just hunt public land.

Bigmills20, I do have a lot of options for public land as lebanon state forest is right down the road. BUt that place is huge and I cannot even think of where to start to look for a good place to hunt.

I did go out today monday that is and only saw 1 doe walking to my stand. It was really a despiration stand site as I just wanted to hunt even thought I knew it really wasn't that good of a spot. BUt hey I just needed to get out there and hunt. But I just got some maps of lebanon state forest and will have to do some real scouting maybe this sunday.

Broadhead88, I remember your post about the price increase on your lease. That sucks. I really feel for ya. BUt I will keep my head up and do the best I can. I just have to figure out how to scout a huge tract of land in a minimal amount of time. Maybe God will grant me a huge buck this year for all the hassel.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Well good luck to all of you guys.

We charge $700 for deer, turkey & semi wild, or $400 for deer only (includes all seasons). The club has 1000 acres.
