Try any of the state gamelands in Bedford, Cambria or Somerset counties. When I still lived in PA, I had gamelands 26 twenty minutes away. You can often find some thick, nasty stuff with very little effort. Depending on the year (let me emphasize this), the land can be full of a decent number of grouse. One other good thing, there is no pressure on grouse, and there is a pile of public hand that's accessible to hunt.

I hunt 2A down in the Kirby gamelands area. Been seeing grouse. One was so loud the other morning, I opened and shut my eyes at dawn a couple times, trying to readjust in my treestand and thinking it was a deer. Turned out it was a huge male grouse coming right at me andstrutting along the dry leafy forest floor.

Going to hunt WV tomorrow, as I just secured permission to hunt a 70 acre overgrown farm plot on a hillside in Taylor County.

Lot's of wet weather this weekend, didn't see many birds. They'll be there, not like the upper peninsula, but there are a fair amount ofbirds.
