It will probably be slow until next weekend. I think, since bow season is long, people don't take off as much work to hunt. They may take a few days when the rut is in gear but the woods will probably be quiet until next Saturday.

I have a job where I can usually get out a fewtimes during the week in bow season but I have to work my businesss around that. I took one look at the weather and decided to get as much work in as I could while it's 80 outside and hunt some toward the weekend when it's supposed to get cooler.

I'm going to quit my job and hunt when I have my house and cars paid off, no debt and enough money to live for at least 20 years. I'm working on it but I'm not getting very far. Up at our place, there are a ton of deer and they're definitely on their summer patterns. We have all big woods and all the deer are hanging around the road edges where there's grass to nibble on. When it gets cold, they'll probably get into the woods and work on the beech nut mast crop. Right now, they're not spending that much time in the woods. If we could hunt in our back yard, we'd already have 2 bucks and 2 does.

I'll let you know when I get back, leaving in like half and hour or so....gonna be a great day hunting the same stand i did on this day last year, and last year i got a buck out of it..hope it happens again.

TOO HOTT you say? went out last night and saw 4 does, not to mention the fact that my dad had 10+ deer in the field he was hunting...they were to far away to get a shot at in legal hours, but he's pretty sure there was 3 big bucks in the group

Can't shoot them from the living room. Heat got you? Pick your stands wisely. Travel short distances and avoid using a climber if possible so you don't build a sweat. They make scent wipes now too in case you do sweat.

Out last night 2 doe and a couple foxes. Foxes bedded down less than 20 yards away. Never picked up on me.

My dad was out yesterday. He said that if it is true that you should hunt does to hunt bucks he found a honey hole for later in the season. He saw 24 does and fawns yesterday. They kept coming in groups past his stand in the morning. Largest group was 7. He said there were a large number of buttons among them. Despite seeing so many, he failed to see a buck all day. Although, he passed on an 8 point on first day at 10 yards. Prospects for a good season are high.
