Default NY GUN LAWS CHANGING

In the current issue of NY Outdoors it has an artical on the assault weapon bill regaurding NY. I understand that when the AWB sunseted in the US it did not in NY. But the new bill would change to having one feature on rifles to make them an assualt rifle. I own a Ruger Mini 14 which would fall into that crack because it has a detachable mag. It say we would have to dispose, surrender or register our firearms with the state police by bringing down to them in person. When I purchased my rifle it was registered to me. Thats why we fill out all of the forms I thought. From my point of view it seem all they want to do is inconvience us and try to prvent people from buying firearms. Is NY going to be like CA? I'm soo frustrated and just wanted everyone to be aware of this topic!!

It is a tough time in NY. Without a question. I read that article as well, looks to be an interesting topic in the next few months.

I read the article too. This sort of thing really makes me angry! I can't believe it was initiated by republicansand I have nothingbut contempt for those pushing it.I havevoted straight republican for30 yearshere in NY but if this bill passes Iintend to re-register as aLibertarian and will never againcast a vote for either a dem or republican. If I waste my vote then so be it but at least I'll cast it with a clear concience.

I just wrote my republicanstate senatorand told him how I felt. I urge everybody here in NY to do so. Here is a web site that will let you enter your zip code to find yourstate senatorand then you can click "contact info" to write him/her.
