Default Promising buck harvest in PA?

I have been doing a good deal of scouting this summer already. Either through glassing fields, ground hog hunting or driving around. I've noticed some exceptional bucks for this time of year on my property and I've heard from others around the area as well. I watched 3 18-20" wide deer about a week ago. I couldn't tell points because they were too far away, but I could make out that they had very good frames already.

I've heard the same thing from a couple of the guys I work with who've also seen bucks already this year that were exceptional for this time of year. And these bucks were on heavily hunting public ground.

Anyone else seeing this? I don't agree with everything that Alt did when he was running the show.........but maybe he wasn't as nuts as some thought.

Muzzy, i would have to agree. I've seen several exceptional deer in my normal public land stomping grounds. Granted i have found the areas seem to be holding less deer- the survivors are donning some impressive head gear

Seen1 deer in the past 2 months alive.and around 2 dozen dead ones on a pile.the developer who bought half the township has been shooting every thing they see and stacking up on a pile to rot. With permission.

We have seen a more than average amount of good ones at our place in Bradford County this year as well. We just put up the camera again, so I should have pictures soon. My dad checks it every day and sends me the pics via email so I may have some this afternoon.

Well, I guess the QDM is working. It takes time, most people haven't the patience to make it work. Hence the on slaught of negative mail and posts. I do believe and have seen QDM work. Remember it's QUALITY not quanity. Good hunting to those patient few.

Its good to see antler restrictions working in PA. I just wish WV would come up with some kind of antler restriction.

Cardeer, why would a developer be shooting all the deer around? And who gave him permission?Thats gotta be against the law.

I have been getting quite a few deer cam pics with bucks in them. Some of them are quite exceptional but I do not know if there are significantly more than in previous years. Maybe a bit more scouting will yield similar findings to your own.

I have been seeing some brutes already. It looks like another good upcoming season. I guess there will be hunters out there wondering why they are seeing nicer buck.[&:] Imagine what would be out there if hunters would stop shooting button bucks. Good luck to everyones upcoming season. It seems like it will never get here![:@]
