Default Black Bears won't leave turkey feeder alone

I have just recently put a feeder on our property to keep the turkey around. Well, the black bears have found the feeder, and the cubs keep climbing the tree to empty it out!! Does anybody know if I spray the tree with hot sauce, will this keep the bears out of the tree ? I was going to wrap the tree with tin, but looking for other options. I have plenty of pics, but I can't upload them, because I am using a public computer. When I get settled down in a new home, I'll try to post!!

Hang your feeder on a big branch that is about 15 feet off the ground and comes off the tree somewhat parallel to the ground. Make sure it is out too far from the tree for them to reach, and a few feet below the branch, but also high enough off the ground so they can't reach the legs and shake the corn off the tray.

Use a V groove pulley tied to the branch, and screw in a big eye bolt in a nearby tree. Then use a come along or ATV winch to pull up the feeder from an inside loop, with a loop on the very end of the rope to hang on a lag. Be sure to account for string stretch, because if you go by where to put the loops when you only hoisted an EMPTY feeder, it will hang probably 8 inches to a foot lower if it is filled with 300 pounds of corn. If you have a smaller, 100 pound feeder, you can still figure maybe 6 inches of string stretch...

Bears are pretty resourceful. I'll bet you have a hard time discouraging them.

Take a couple of regular old balloons...... Smear some peanut butter on them, put some ammonia inside the balloons and blow them up.

The bears will break the balloons....and get a nose full of ammonia.

This usually keeps them from coming back around.
