the earliest i have found any was dec. 10 it was fresh, with even a little hair on it,had one guy shoot a buck in muzzy without antlers.so i will still wait till about feb 14 or so,as i saw a buck this morning with both on.
good luck to you guys, and bigbuck good luck on the new property.
Saw a couple bucks yesterday with their antlers still on. One was a shooter 8-10 pointer (didn't get a good look before he spooked, but he was a definate Pope and Young buck) and a little dink fork. I will wait and let my odds increase to be sure that almost all the bucks have dropped before I go out looking.
I saw 2 big bucks the other night, a big 10 pt and an 8, and both of them still had bone on their heads. I will probably go look in a couple weeks or so.
Last week I saw 2 bucks eating outta my bird feeder. One was a 7 ptr, and the other a fork. The fork was 20-30 pounds larger then the 7ptr. I might look for the sheds in late February.
A few of my friends have been looking since mid January and have found a few small ones and have seen plenty of buck with "holes" on their heads. I haven't been out yet....I'll go next weekend when I go home.
Sorry....thought the title said Illinois! Ooops.
