Default Exotic Red Deer in Indiana...

I was thinking this deer was from Greenland, but it's from Great Britain.

Anyway, I was not on this site when this happened, so I don't know if anyone posted on it or not, but it is interesting anyway. This guy had NO idea what he had shot, and they still have NO idea where in the heck it came from! Anyway, just thought I would post this article, it's interesting. I couldn't find a picture of it though, our newspaper makes me pay for archive articles and I wasn't going to do that... but here's a link to a short story on it.

It was shot about 1/2 hour from where I live... I USED to live in that town a couple of years ago, before my hunting days.

Heard a little about it on the local news when it happened but that was it. You would think a deal like that would have drawn a little more attention. There used to be a guy either east or west of Larwill on US 30 that had Red deer, then they were gone, ya don't suppose they accidently escaped?????? Sure would like to see one walk under my treestand!! How about the one buck rule folks sure looks like it is working in my area, seen more mature bucks this year than in the past ten combined including a massive 14 pt. that Iam still after

I haven't hunted long enough I guess to know whether the one buck rule is working, but I have seen a few bucks and my boyfriend sees tons of them as he drives around all over for his job...

As for the red deer, I woulda thought it would make a bigger splash too, but I guess it wasn't that big of a deal for some people.

I don't know about the red deer farm in Larwill, didn't know there was one. The DNR said they didn't know of any remotely close... so who knows!? I would love to know the story behind it's origins though... I wish there was a way to tell!
