Default Illinois & Iowa Deer Tags

I was wondering if non resident hunting in Iowa and Illinois is by draw only?
I very much want to come and hunt either state for deer in 2005.
I would like to trade a hunt. I own a place in Texas that is great deer hunting and
loaded with turkeys, I also lease a place in Oklahoma that has this and tons of hogs.
These places have very low hunting pressure.
Thanks and have a great day.

Illinois is by draw only, not sure about Iowa.

IL draw is not that hard to acquire, some tags will remain after most recent August 14 draw. You can download an application from the IDNR website.

I hunt Greene County, they may have tags yet available, especially for the second season in early December.

Good luck!

If you want an Iowa out of state liscense for a buck permit, you have to put in for a draw before June 2nd I believe. Its $225 for the buck only, however you can buy a doe only any time throughout the hunting season, and thats $175. I called Iowa DNR about this on June 7th, so I missed the cutoff. Good luck if you descide to go to Iowa. Lots of good sized deer, and lots of dumb hunters doing deer drives. Seems like every year someone gets shot because of this.

Hey turkey man,
Wisconsin has huge bucks and tags over the counter. Illinois gun draw is pretty easy, but Iowa can take a couple years, I applied for bow there, and I think its the same as gun, prefferance system that works out to about every other year.
