illinois "handgun only" season

well as some of you know this year in some parts of illinois during illinois handgun only season they are making it to where you can use whatever you want, well my question is do you have to be 18? because to sign up for a handgun olny permit you have to be 18 to shoot a pistol.

Nobody seems to have an answer..I would probably try calling the Dnr office.

If it is simular to Iowa's rule you have to be at least 18 and accompanied by a 21 year old or over 21.

Don't ask me why you can go die for your country at 18 but can't hunt deer with a handgun, but that is our rule.

I believe you can use a shotgun or muzzleloader instead of a pistol.
