Default illinois supreme court changes law...must read!

If you hunt on private ground in Illinois, changes could be instore. More info go to www.farmweek.ilfb.org and look under general news. Read "Rural landowners face choice on recreational use of property"in the archive on 6/30/04. This sucks!

thsi sucks! the person who i get permission had some one file suit on him a while back and i had to beg.. although hes family i still had to beg him to hun there and he knows i wouldnt file any wrongfull injury suits. but still now he either has to offer everyone the opertunity to hunt that land or else! DAMN now i hope no one find out about it! seriously how could the courts tell us what to do with our own land?

too many laws, not enough smart people

The law does not apply to landowners who charge people to hunt. It does say how much. To get around it maybe they could charge 1 dollar.

Well, well another low life person and a trial lawyer screwing this up again.
What precidence in the LAW to date does the court make such a decision? To my knowledge the courts don't have the right on two accounts I can think of just off hand.
1. freedom of association
2.private property right and land use when it comforms to law already existing. The court in this case is writing law ,which is not the court's job. They interpet law.

Local sportsmen groups should fight this decision to the supreme court if need be. I'm sure there must be a legal group or individual that would take the case pro bono. Also petition legislator in the state to pass a bill excempting landowners from lawsuits when neglagence can't be shown on owner's part.
