The Governor Signed the dove bill today. We finally have our dove hunting season. There will be a $2.00 dove stamp to buy. I think this is the best news I've heard in a long time.

A lot this will do for a majority of Michigan hunters[&o]. There are only a handfull of counties in lower Michigan where this hunt is permitted on a trial basis. The hunt will be re-evaluated after three years to look at dove populations. This can possibly be the end to dove hunting period in Michigan after this re-evaluation. 99% of these "trail dove hunt counties" are private property where permission to dove hunt will be next to impossible to get. So joe blow the hunter is SOL. I live in Upper Michgan so there is no hunt for us up here period. To me the only good thing about it is there is a foot in the door for a "State wide dove season" and doves are now classfied as game birds. To me this is a pretty empty, almost meaningless hunting season.
