Default ARCHERY ELK IN COLORADO

Any one interisted in a archery Elk hunt the first week in Sept. If you are from Wisconsin
Iowa, or Minnesota and have some experience with mules or horses maybe we could share expences. I have mules pack gear, saddles, f350 and trailer. I know a couple of places but am willing to try yours if it sounds better.

Schl44, I sent you a email sometime ago i don't know you if you reseved it or not.

I have 3 trips planed for this year.

The first one is with Bow. The group I hunt with can not make it this year. This will be in unit 45 with Bushnell outdoor online community. I have not hunted this unit before. I do not have any one ales that is planning on this trip yet. I'm looking for a couple of Bow hunter for this trip total 3 or 4 hunters. The tag is over the counter for ether sex. This is 4 point or better unit. The 4 mules for packing and riding might work well on this hunt.

The second trip is for units 7 & 8 with rifle for 10/16 - 10/24/2004 I hunted is unit for the past five years. This past year my coworker tagged a nice 6X6 BULL. in the bulls only season. I will be hunting with my daughter and 2 or 3 others on this trip. I think we put in for one bull and 3 cow tags. This is a draw unit but they do not sale all the tags there should be some leftovers. We do have room for more hunters. its all on state land.

The third trip is late season cow hunt in unit 11. With my son and two other friends if they draw the tags. I will not be hunting on this one. Just helping out. I have been hunting this unit for the past 13 years. The past 5 years with my kids for the late season cows

Are you interested in Bow or rifle? I do have a Polaris 6x6. I never hunted with mules or horses yet. we always walk out of camp or drove to where we hunted for the day. I have equipment for a group of 5 to 8 hunters or more.

I suggest trying to find some place to hunt around Rifle or Meeker CO. It's on the western slope and from what I've heard, they have been the best areas to hunt the last several years.

Sounds like a great time and I wish I had the time and money this year as I'd sign up for it. If you plan something next year I'd definitely be interested. I was drawn again this year for a mule deer tag in Montana and with remodeling the basement that is about it for the money. I've hunted north of Glenwood Springs 5 years with rifle and had a good time there. I took two bulls...not huge but they tasted great. We started renting pack horses which we walked back into get away from others. I'm planning on trying a bow hunt as I've never hunted elk with bow before. Hopefully next year.
