Well after not getting drawn in the special hunts, then driving three times to try and get a walk-on spot before finally getting picked, my hunt lasted 3 hours. But an excellent morning full of gobbling. This was Monday. Calm, clear, and tons of gobbling. Over 50 to my right side. None to my left side. Guess which side my tom came from? Left. Came in silent to my decoys/calls. Strutted for 45 minutes and would not come closer than 40 yards. Finally I decided to try the shot when he looked ready to tuck into the woods. His head was up, he was still, and I had a super tight turkey choke tube. Dropped him good, but I'd taken 10 birds previously all within 25 yards. 20# 2 oz. A fun hunt, but I sure hunted more for a spot at my F&W than for the bird!
