I'm heading out for my second year pheasant hunting near Mitchell, SD again this October. I'm curious how severe the winter and early spring was. Any information would be appreciated.
Not severe at all by our standards. We had very little snow and it was not very cold. The winter kill should be minimal this year. Our spring has been warm and dry.
I live in Watertown in the NE corner. I have never seen as many pheasants in the spring as I have this spring. They are everywhere. I would think that given our mild winter and slow warmup this spring that we should have a pretty good hatch and plenty of birds on top of the already high numbers.
