Opening day of gun is just around the corner!!! There is just something about it...i don' t know what it is!!! I prefer to bow hunt, but will DEFINITELY be in the tree come Monday morning (barring any unseen problem!!!). The weather is supposed to be windy, but who cares!!!
Myself and a few friends are planning to hunt the Wayne National forest' s IRONTON District for the first three days of the gun season. This will be our first trip to the area, are you familiar with the Wayne? If so can you give me any tips on where to hunt or not-to-hunt? Any info will be a ppreciated.
JWK- I have no advice to give you because I live/hunt in SW Ohio. The closest public land to me is about 1 1/2 hours away. From what I do about public land hunting, be careful....espically Monday morning!!! The good news is with gun shots everywhere, the deer should be running!!! Good luck and safe hunting!!!
Opening day is definately scarry compared to the average day of bowhunting[]. Find some big trees and get in the middle of them and watch for any movement. Take your time and be one of the only people in the woods to fire one shot at your deer. One shot, One kill, although it is nice to have a couple extra for backup[:-].
I' ll be out there...Last week during the youth season I missed two bucks and didn' t get a shot off at two other bucks so hopefully I' ll get one tomorrow.
Im ready! I got the 870 sighted in and ready to go. Got 6 shells left after targeting, that should be more than enough! I have watched this 130-140 class 10 pointer for a while now. He elluded me durring bow, barely got by me durring the youth hunt, now its shotgun time so hopefully I will get a shot on him
Good luck yall.
Be safe and have fun![8D]
