Default IL Deer Hunters

With Illinois bow hunting under way this season since October 1st and first firearm season starting Novenber 8th it's not just a good idea but your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the regulations and any changes that have been made in the regulations. Here are some.

Of course you will need the appropriate Hunting License and Habitat Stamp. Make sure you sign these.

Of course you need the appropriate permit(s) and make sure you sign these, too.

Unfilled Youth permits are also valid during the first weekend of Firearm Deer Season (Nov. 18-20, 2016).

CWD. This year there are 14 counties testing for Chronic Wasting Disease and hunters who harvest a deer in them are required to bring the deer to the check stations on the day it it killed. So be sure to figure on this trip if you are hunting. Check stations are 8am-8pm. CWD survey counties include Boone, DeKalb, Grundy, JoDaviess, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago. The 2 new counties that have been added this year are Kankakee and Livingston.

This was added this season. Youths with a valid Youth Hunting License and a valid achery permit may use a crossbow to hunt deer during the archery season from Oct.1 through the second Sunday following Thansgiving.

This was added this year. Non-residents who have previously obtained either a Non-Resident Combination Archery Deer Permit or a Non-Resident MLandowner Archery Deer Permit may purchase single Antlerless-Only archery deer permits for $25. Non-Residents without one of those permits will be charged a fee of $100. There is no limit for single Antlerless-Only permits.

Couple other things to keep in mind is the Purple Paint rule and getting permission before hunting or entering private properties.

Hope tis helps some people. Everyone have a safe and hopefully successful season built on memories.

Got 2 of the H&R USHs 100% cleaned and oiled plus honed both of the ejectors. Throw a few slugs at deer camp to check scopes are still spot on and these bad boys are ready to go!
