Bowhunting the Black Hills
My brother and I are heading to the Black Hills next fall to hunt Muley or Whitetail. I hunted there back in the late 80's with mixed results. We are planning on hunting Northeast of Newcastle, WY. I am interested in hearing any advice on hunting techniques. We are treestand hunters from Wisconsin and will use them there as well. My plan is to scout for a day or two prior to hitting the woods. I hunted water holes in the past out there but wonder about hunting near areas that had a forest fire such as the Jasper fire or looking for feeding areas where there is good grass. Any advice would be appreciated.

Topgun,
I did speak to a local conservation warden and he said the Muley and Whitetail population has really rebounded over the last 5 years. He said he gun hunts the Black Hills and has seen quality bucks with 4 x 4's and 5 x 5's in the mix. Thanks for the reply.
