Indiana new deer hunting calibers 2015
I have recently seen on Indiana DNR's website a change in legal rifle calibers for deer. It goes something like this;
1. Change minimum bullet diameter allowed to .243
2. Eliminate a maximum caliber OAL restriction.
*Basically any rifle you want .243 diameter and up as big as you want.
After 2 decades of shotgun hunting and the past 6 years with straight walled pistol caliber rifles I can soon buy and use rifles that I never bought because I couldn't use them.
The reasoning for this is because of the advances in modern muzzloading and how far they can shoot. I can attest to this. I broke in my new muzzloader today and sighted in my scope. At 270 yards I was using the first elevation dot on my Leopold Rifleman Scope which was hitting the center of the target. Drop had to be around 4-6 inches. That was the flattest shooting thing I have ever seen out of a muzzleloader, shotgun, or pistol carbine.
Best news I heard all year!

I haven't heard any recent news but I am expecting it to pass. I have already been looking at various rifles and studying ballistics information. I was thinking about .35 Remington or .35 Whelen....but the 7mm-08 has won me over.
