Default Looking for a new place to hunt

So after 26+ years of hunting the same area of woods in the Nicolete National Forest (Phelps, WI), I'm thinking of going somewhere else.

The past few years haven't been productive and with other hunters leaving the area (that I know of), it makes it even more difficult to harvest an animal. It's just to big of an area for the few hunting partners I go with.

A few in our party want to come south toward a part of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest near Medford, WI. I think after the season we will look at that area.

Can anyone give me some advice when traveling to another hunting area. What to look for, who to talk to, etc...

Thanks,
