Default IL Deer Hunters have a question that needs an answer..

There is a group of (out of state) guys which hunt the surrounding properties. Approx. 12-14 individuals,, how did all these guys get their (firearm)tags? When I have had a couple friends from out of state try to come hunt with me and for the past 5 years they've been turned down each time... How is it possible that all those guys recieved tags??

I am not sure but I believe NR apps can be made the same as R apps as far as applying as a group and either being all accepted or all denied.

I just looked at the permits on DNR site for "Property Only" and there is no such process to apply for everyone either being in or out as a group.

So there should be no possible way that all 14 would be able to get firearm tags!!

Thanks Uncle Matt

But can the apply using the group option on a regular non resident permit app??

To use the property only app they would have to be the landowner--correct???

A group cannot put in to hunt a 'property-only' type hunt. That is reserved for NR landowners. If they are all 40 acre landowners/shareholders within the group they would qualify. They would then get drawn.

They can apply for a group as NR. If one gets drawn, all get drawn within that group. Even then, there may be a limit of group size.

Nothing seems wrong to me.

Good luck-

Thanks LLBUX that would explain it, so if one gets drawn from the group they alll get drawn.. then that would make sense..
