Large Black Bear hit by combine was dead when hit
It turns out a deer hunter from Fargo ND shot the bear and it died in the corn field. The WI DNR confiscated the bear from the farmer who paid $75.00 to the DNR. The hunter admitted that he shot the bear twice and then he ( the hunter) tried to get a bear tag after the fact. The farmer was not charged in this incident. The hunterwas traced by his phone call during the deer season to the DNR and then the DNR took another look at the bear and found two bullet holes in the hide while it was at the taxidermists. The bear will be displayed by the DNR.
HOW STUPID CAN SOMEONE BE? First he shoots a bear out of season, then he tries to get a tag from the DNR. I am surprised the warden didn't see it was shot!

Yeah the DNR gave him his $75.00 back - but the bear was almost done at the taxidermist. I wonder how much the farmer will owe the taxidermist-hmmmmmm

I agree , but the DNR has a policy that any wild life taken by illegal means , will be confiscated. They will most certainlydisplay this bearat wildlife events because of his size. I feel sorry for the farmer cause he is envolved in this by no fault of his own. However the deer hunter that shot it should be hung. It is sad that guy's still shoot first and ask questions later. Therewas no reason for this dummy (the hunter) to violate and shoot this bear.[:@][:@][:@]

You know, I thought that it was wierd that a bear would be hibernating in a corn field but when you hear something like this and a paper reports it you believe it. The farmer only lives about two miles from my house and I am sure he had nothing to do with the crime here. It is just crazy that the warden didn't check the bear over better. As far as the taxidermist goes, hemost likelydid see the bullet holes and reported it to the DNR. I don't know if he did but you sure would think he (the taxidermist) would know what bullet holes would look like. This whole deal is so stupid it makes me sick that a bear of his size and age has to meet an ending like this.[:@][:@][:@]
The hunter that shot this bear should never be allowed to hunt again period!
