Here in Indiana I've always thought that if you have not filled your buck tag by the time opening "weekend" of gun season has ended, chances are your not going to. After hunting hard here for 23 years I still believe that to be true. I do make it a little tuff on myself by only shooting 3 1/2 year or better buck and of course does. Any tips or tricks to try other than the obvious.
Try doing everything completely different. Set your alarm for 11:00 pm instead of 4:00 am. I've found that if I'm hunting when big bucks actually move I have a lot better luck. I've also found that most guys sleep right through prime time and never get to pull the trigger. With a lot of gas in the truck and a little help from a good buddy holding the light you'll get that buck!! Thats how everyone does it down here in the Ozarks
well i got my buck saturday, but i have only killed 2 bucks in my life on opener, i usally hunt thru theweek as much as i can, if i got anyvacation i would use a few days and huntall day, i had last week off bowhunting and seen most of the bucks i seen between 1-4 my best time to kill a good buck is at 11:00.
