when is turkey season in Ohio??????

I think it' s in May sometime, around the 20th. Not sure though. Check out the ODNR site www.dnr.state.oh.us and look for the turkey hunting section.

Last year they added that extra week on to the wrong end[:@] Would have made it alot better if they added it on to the begenning of the season.

I agree deerhuntr107. I they keep this up, we' ll be hunting in June.[:@] I can' t understand why they can' t start our season toward the begining of April like most other states.

I live in Ohio but hunt mostly in WV. WV is well south of Ohio, but starts at the same time. It' s tougher than hell to call a bird in after the first week or so.

I called and asked why...The DNR officer told me that an earlier season would make for the illegal killing of more hens since they are moving around much more.

I couldn' t believe my ears......What kind of answer is that?

That was WV' s excuse anyway............................

Pro-Line, we get the same answer here. It makes absolutley NO sence! Our season last year was horrible. The first week was good, but after that it wasn' t even fun. This year they are starting the season a week later, so it' s going to be some tough hunting. They' re eventually going to drive a lot of people from turkey hunting. After days of getting up long before daylight and hardly hearing any gobbles, much less working a bird, the fun is just no longer there. I don' t know anyone out there trying to shoot a hen. If somebody wants to poach a turkey, they aren' t worried about seasons.

Im leaving the 27th to hunt with VC1111 in Harrison CO the 28th thur May 1st. This year it' s strickly bow for me. Last year I hunted one of the later weeks and it was very difficult to get much reactiin when putting the birds to bed and even less calling during the day once the sun was up.
