Default 08 Illinois Youth Hunt

Well it is a sudden change in plans for us here. Both my son and nephew got their permits Saturday when we were out camping. Good deal.

Obviously we'll still bring the nephew out. But now my son has broken his left arm. He'll be cast up so what to do with the hunt.I wonder if he could shoot from a blind with a shooting stick and a little help.

If not he'll be an encouraging camp member I guess. He was so looking forward to it.

UM- if he's a righty, the sticks and blind should work fine.

Well we bounced the idea around and it looks like he wouldn't take no for an answer anyway.

They just don't get enough Youth seasons for the kids to miss even one of 'em. Go and have a blast,..... best of luck to all of you guys. I know I'm extra excited about it this year because I have all 3 of my kids hunting this season!

I'm sure he'll be fine, just tell him to make the first shot count.

Well he'd better. We use H&R USHs. He blasted the heart out of a nice doe last year. But what a great young outdoorsman I have in him. Our game plan is first and foremost to get his cousin his first deer, No reason both boys can't tag but he said it is more important that his cousin get a deer.

And ILcorn..........CONGRATS on your 3 going! Great times with a bunch of family in the great outdoors TOGETHER!

I dont really see that to be a problem. i did this many many years ago when i was a kid, i just remember missing the deer and not being able to pump another shell in the chamber! like they said just make the first shot count, he'll be fine, also like you said if worse comes to worst he will still get to enjoy the outdoors and camp

It sounds like you do have a son to be prowd of, good for him. Their is nothing that feels like that, to put you kids on a path to being an outdoorsman. Like the bummper sticker I'm sure you guys have seen " teach your kids to hunt and you won't have to hunt for them".
