Default Ohio Deer Hunters Question.

I have never hunted in Ohio before and I'm looking for any info you can give me that you think would be beneficial. I'm trying to find the best area of public land and places to stay I'm looking at the shotgun week. I want to do this on a shoe string budget so any where to stay with a bed and a shower will do nothing fancy. Thanks

Wayne National Forrest!! Check out Ohiosportsman.com, registerand make a post there. Some people on that forum have a camp that is open to the forum members during gun season for no charge and they can help you out.

Default RE: Ohio Deer Hunters Question.

The Wayne Forrest as well as state lands offer plenty of room but do attract a lot of hunters. In addition there are power company and coal lands that offer free permits for hunters. We have stayed at the state camp grounds and rented a cabin by the week. If you go in with 5 or 6 guys it costs about $100.00 dollars a week per person. The camps have all the stuff necessary to stay like linens, towels, toilet paper and cooking utensils. They have sat TV with a gas fireplace. All you need to bring is food and drink. Book the camp sites early though since they get picked for the shotgun week quickly. The camp grounds are all over the state and can be researched through the state F&W website. Lots of hunters"¦ so get ready for that.
