[hr]
I will be going on a semi-guided archery hunt to Adams County Illinois from Oct.25 through Oct.31 of 2008. Basically, we"™ll get there and the outfitter will show us the around the property/properties we"™ll be hunting, tell us what he"™s been seeing and where, and then it"™s up to us to hang our stands.
I"™d like any advice or tips on how to scout with such limited time and knowledge of the property. We can scout as much as we want, but obviously, if I"™m scouting, I"™m not hunting.
Also, I"™m curious as to whether or not it would be worth while to use a buck decoy, rattle bag, etc"¦ during this time period. I"™ve never hunted this part of the country, so I don"™t really know much about their rut timing. Here in Maryland, I"™ve had some luck around this time period with light rattling, as the bucks seem to just be getting in the fighting mood.
This is my first out-of-town hunt, and I want to give myself the best chance possible, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jason
