Dayna,

Not sure if I posted it. My 2nd buck this year was taken at JEPC November 17th. Hunter pressure was not bad then during the gun hunt. Bucks were quite active.

We received about 2" of snow on Thursday night. Forecast is for rain/freezing rain for much of next 3/4 days. Snow is forecast for most of next week.

By Monday it could be real dicey.

Type in Chandlerville or Ashland for an area weather forecast.

Good luck-

dayna,

Please let me know what kind of action you see there. I've hunted often in the late season and even seen chasing. I'd consider a decoy as there will be very few bowhunters out there now, and there are big wide open spaces for bucks to view. Best time is if you get a winter storm blow through. Check out the crop fields as soon as you get there and see where the tracks tell you therehave been visitors, both deer and hunters. Hunt what it tells you.

Have patience. You will see fewer mature bucks than prime rut, butthey are definitely still there. Get lucky and spot a hot doe and she can have 6 bucks in tow, like I saw 2 seasons ago. Best of luck......enjoy.

Thanks guys,I filled my tag last year on dec. 12. I saw the same buck at noon chasing a doe down the middle of the road, the day befor.I set up a stand along the creek and a corn field and shot him the next morning leaving with a full belly.I hunted there this year from nov.9 to the gun season .The pressure is hard on the weekends at that time of the year, looking forward to havig the place nearly to my self.

JEPC is one place I'd like to hunt more often. I made two trips last year. Saw tons of game and there is so much room hunting pressure is slight compared to other public hunting ground. I didn't see what I'd call a monster buck though. I sawa couple of 130's. Probably 2 1/2 yr olds. Tons of turkeys.

Dayna, Post a photo. I wanna see!

Here's my JEPC buck. Taxidermist called me yesterday and mentioned he had to order the largest form manufactured. Had a thick neck, 28". Short tines, but I think my buck has the largest bases, main beam length & spread of any I've taken. Pretty happy with him.
