Default Man Strangled By Hunting Harness

This is terrible.

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/14753024/detail.html

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- A man was killed in a hunting accident in southern Indiana over the weekend.

Investigators said Ronnie Tempest, 52, of Greensburg, was strangled in a hunting harness on Saturday in a wooded area near South Crossing Lane.

Police said they think Tempest was trying to climb into a tree stand when his hunting harness wrapped around his neck, causing him to slip and fall from the tree. Tempest was part of a group hunting on private property.

Regardless of the type of harness you wear, you should always make sure of where that back strap is while climbing. The best safety gear is worthless if you use it wrong.

Amen to that Kevin. One in 4 will fall sometime in their hunting life. Not good odds when you consider the seriousness of a fall. Proper use of modern hunting harnesses is a must. If anyone reads this and blows it off think about it a bit. It could save your life.

Here in Southern New Jersey a fellow had a bolt break on his climber and fell 30 feet. When he didn't meet his father at the asigned meeting time he went to look for his son. The father found him, but he had already passed away from the fall.

It ended up being a heart attack. They said there was no sign of him suffering after he fell.

Hmmm.

Whatever happened he died doing what he loved doing. Not so bad.

Do wish they'd give a whole lot more info with these accidents.
