Heading up to my camp this weekend for the week. Anything going on with the deer? Are they moving, pre-rut yet?

A little grunting and chasing going on. The best is yet to come!

Any updates? Been seeing some scrapes and rubs, the small bucks are play fighting, not in thier groups anymore. Mid day seems the best yet by me.

Menominee County - family member informed me that deer were chasing this past weekend with a lot of rubs (but minimal # of scrapes). Still seems early - really excited for this upcoming weekend.

Houghton County - Bucks are play fighting not to much chasing yet. But all signs point towards the chase being right around the corner.

In Iron County lots of does and fawns, very few bucks! Last shooter buck I saw was early september still in the bachelor group (125" 8 point). Great fawn crop this year. Every doe I see has at least 1fawn, some twins and I saw 2 different triplets. Bowhunting Oct. 30 I saw 18 does, five of which were button bucks. Our buck to doe ratio is horrible up here and I wish we could close the buck harvest for a few years to let some nice deer grow. We shoot alot of does but apparently not enough. Those guys in menominee have all those nice corn fed bucks. They always have nice trophy bucks coming out of their! Its just the seeking phase right now, smaller bucks sniffing does but no hard core chasing yet. Very few scrapes, and rubs compared to last year.

Lol, I wish I lived in that area. I live not far from Menominee city limits, so its a more populated area, small properties of 20-40 acres with residences onthem.
