Default MI hunter safety for all bow hunters?

Has anyone else heard about this? I heard that all bowhunters are going to have to take this course (16 hrs). No one will be grandfathered in, anyone that bowhunts will have to take it. No exceptions. The books and tests are already printed.

So this is what I have heard from more than one person just in the last 2 days.

I heard it from one of my co workers who owns a hunt club with a guy that does the hunter safety courses here. On the MI dnr site there is a bowhunters safety course. I heard that next year it is going to be mandatory. So they must be changing the hunting licenses because they are say that you won't be able to purchase a bow license with the certificate.

I haven't heard a thing about that!! I would find it hard to believe seeing it is only about money here in Michigan and they are making easier to try and get kids into the woods, heck they don't even need hunter saftey if there with an adult!! Walt

I know it's all about the money, I know my nephews going out tomorrow and he hasn't had hunters safety, the apprentice program, so why bother with hunters safety?

I called the dnr when i saw the bow hunters course. they said they offer it cause there were alot of people asking about because they need it to hunt out of state. i guess some states require you to have to that class to bow hunt.
