pike county ohio

anyone hunt in pike county. near beaver. im got on a lease andnever hunted in ohio before.

I hunt not far from there
Rolling hills and valleys to nasty ridges to OMG strip mined land with drop offs to flat reclaimed strip mines
A few miles and the landscape changes

It also depends on if the land is farmed or over grown or logged/chipped for paperor big timber
Or a mix

Some great deer / turkey and grouse hunting

OMFG. i live in pike county. finally someone close. i turkey/deer hunt on my grandfathers land near lathem/peebles. theres a bunch of deer roaming the woods of beaver, but be careful, pike county is full of drunk hunters. im serious. they;ll shoot at anything that resembles a deer. no lie. seen it happen. guy got killed there couple years back i think. but yeah its a great place to hunt. just dont get in to any trouble, because pike county court systems is a .223 at 150yds. people are crazy theyll use 7mm for deer. so watch out. good luck.

p.s. read the regs. and fully understand them. there are a lot but you will get in trouble.

hey thanks .yes ill keep in touch ,ill need alot of help. when can i expect to see the rut time around there. and ill also watch out for drunk hunters also.

usually right around the start of gun season, so check odnr's website youll find a lot of info there. i will probably be hunting adams county this year. maybe pike. maybe ross. all depends.

IMO the peak of the rutt is normaly 2 weeks before gun season

But you will still find bucks working the scrape lines during gun season

I just preferr to bow hun and not worry about the nuts with guns

sounds like its about the same time as here in tenn. i need not get up there and do some scouting. not really had the time. what about waterfowl or hog hunting around pike county ,are there many places to hunt waterfowl or hogs. not ever hunted hogs ,there not many around my parts of southern tenn.id like to give it a trythough.

dont know about hogs, but waterfowls pretty good. just scout it out, get permission, buy stamps, liscense, steel shot, and bang bang bang.
