anyone hunt Ray Norbut SWA in IL

I was fortunate enough to win a tag for firearm season for Ray Norbut SWA in pike county. Anyone know the area? Tips, clues?

I live near it but have never been there. I don't know anyone who hunts it either.

I bow hunted there the last 2 years ,It gets alot of bow hunters,stands every where. If I was to rifle hunt it I would either be down blue creek to watch the crossings at the mouth of the creek ,the hill to the left is good looking too. The island holds a few buck also ,take a raft and float the 30 to 50 foot channel on the east side .There is a deadend road to the island .Look for it on an airal map. The largest bucks I saw where near 150" . good luck.

There is some very good hunting there. Yes, it is fairly crowded during bow season, especially early thru the rut. You can hunt late season without seeing anybody. Don't know about the gun hunting. They only have a limited amount, don't know the number, so I would think you would be ok as far as having to many people. I would think you would have to check in , in the mornings to sign up fo a area. I don't know if this is the case or not. It would prevent all the gun hunters from going to the same spot. You might check on that. There are some very nice bucks in the area.
