Default Ill Rumor.Rifles in Pistol Caliber?

I heard a rumor that rifles in pistol calibers would be allowed for deer hunting in Illinois like in Indiana.I also heard that they were going to try it out in the late anterless season only this year.Anyone else heard anything about this?

The DNR site nor the regs make mention of the change that I could find.

When and if this happens I'd think it wouldn't be this season. Wouldn't the legislature have to vote on it? Their trying to hammer out a budget now so if they have to approve it I'm sure it's not on a priority list at the moment.

Lance,I'm kind of leaning toward a Marlin 1894,mainly because there is an aftermarket trigger available that will reduce the pull to 2 to 3 pounds and there are spring kits available also.

sisfire.I believe a change like this would strictly be a DNR regulation change and the legislature would not be involved. When handguns were allowed, you know that the anti-gun congress would have never approved if it was up to them.

It would be nice not being pounded by my 12 ga. slug shooter

Well,I decided to check out this rumor a little further and e-mailed the Illinois DNR Public Information Office and received a very short, three word responce,"Not in Illinois".I guess this answerd my question.
