Default Indiana hunters, let's hear your opinion.

Well, it passed.Indiana deer hunters can now hunt with a rifle that fires a pistol cartridge. Here's a section from the Indiana DNR website:

The rifle must fire a cartridge that meets the following specifications:
[ul][ul][*]A) fire a bullet of three hundred fifty-seven thousandths of an inch (.357) diameter or larger;[*](B) have a minimum case length of one and sixteen hundredths (1.16) inches; and[*](C) have a maximum case length of one and six hundred twenty-five thousandths (1.625) inches.

[/ul][/ul]
Some cartridges that will be legal include the following:
[ul][ul][*].357 Magnum[*].38-40 Winchester[*].41 Magnum[*].41 Special[*].44 Magnum[*].44 Special[*].44-.40 Winchester[*].45 Colt[*].454 Casull[*].480 Ruger[*].475 Linebaugh[*].50 Action Express[*].500 S&W [/ul][/ul]
What do y'all think?
Will it change the way you hunt?
Will you use a rifle?
With our M/L's that fire 200+ yards, will people even grab a <100 Yard rifle?
I'm not trying to start an argument, I just want to hear your opinions.

Let's hear it! Fire away!

Just another tool to use. I don't currently own such a rifle since I had no need for one, but I'd consider one now. It won't change things in the field much IMO.

My opinion is that it su*ks. Now we have another method of wiping out the deer herd in Indiana. Its time for some different views in this state.

i dont think its that bad im going to use my bow and hawken or black diamond. I wish you couldnt use high power rifle loads in hand guns but that another thing. I dont think a lot of people will use rifles (except for the people who do because its new)

most of these rounds are accurate at 100 yards so it does not matter much, you can shoot a rifled slug gun or an encore muzzleloader alot farther. The encore will shoot alot farther than most of these calipers, the encore will be my next purchase.

You are exactly right! In fact, with the Dead Center DUPLEX round legal in Indiana with it's .357 caliber 195 grain exceptional accuarcy, WHY would anyone want to use one of the above mentioned pony rifles??? Shoot one of the extremely impressive sabot rounds through an Encore Pro Hunter 209x50

I was given a H&R Handi-Rifle in .500 S&W for my graduation. I plan on using it this gun season instead of my muzzle loader. Just for the sake of trying somthing new. Only problem is the ammo is quite expensive. Its a really nice little gun. The recoil is much less than I thought it would be.

I'll keep using my muzzleloaders for now. Maybe when my kids start hunting I'll get a PCR for them, less recoil than a slug gun.
