Default New to South Dakota

Hi all. I moved to SD this weekend and I was wondering if anyone can give me any info on huntin here? I am between Sturgis and Pierre near milesville close to the cheyenne river. I hunt everything and just am looking to get oriented here. Any suggestions would very helpful. Like everyone else, I am looking for places to hunt public, private, or last resort a lease.
Thanks in advance for any help folks.

I just movedto SDin May of 2006. I am a grad student at SDSU in Brookings. The hunting here in the East isgood. My research is on a ranch West River and the sharp-tailed grouse and prairie chicken hunting looked pretty good thispast year butI didn't get a chance to go. There seems to be pheasants and rabbits everywhere. Deer aren't bad either. Now that squirrel season is about over (depressing) I am looking forward to fishing when the water thaws out.Best of luck.

Well, there are plenty of all three. So, you should be in luck. There is quite a bit of public land to hunt on as well.

Snow geese should be making their way up through SD in about 2-3 weeks. That would be a little further east for most of them though.
