Default Michigan Smelt Lakes

I am planning a trip for the weekend of March 3rd. I was wondering if any of you guys had some good information on any of the following lakes. Any information is appreciated.

Gun Lake, Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake, Black Lake, or Crystal Lake.

Thanks Fellas, God Bless.

Default RE: Michigan Smelt Lakes

you forgot Littlefield lake. it is in Isabella county. Yes it has smelt. I grew up 3 miles from there and we used to catch buckets full almost everynite in the winter. Used to be ALOT of shantys out there. I don`t know how they do anymore. You can see if Schafers baitshop is still open in weidman. His# was (517) or (989) 644-3501He would know how the smelting is. Or try Pohl`s market on the corner of coleman and winn rds. # is (989)588-6851. They mite know something. Best I can do for ya. good luck!
