Last night I saw an 8 point with about a 26" spread thrashing a tree and putting down a scrape. This afternoon around 3:30pm, I heard the leaves being scraped away and another brushy overhang being trashed royally. Got the binocs out and scoped him through the brush at about 75 yards. It was a pretty decent 10 point. Not as wide as the 8 point, but a big bodied bruser. Just thought I'd letall you southern Mich guys knowto be there or be square this weekend (like you wouldn't anyways huh?..haha).

Its about ready to rock in the SE. I would say the 7th-11th would be primetime if mother nature doesnt throw us a curveball like last year.

The temps and full moon put a cramp on my hunting this past weekend. Rut is definitely on though - Saturday I noticed a scrape along the trail I walk in on and Sunday a fresh scrape appeared under the tree I'm in!! I guess I'm in the right spot.

With this weather warming up like it is, I am hoping that the peak of the rut starts on the 15th about an hour before daylight when I am climbing into my stand with my .270 for the opener since I couldn't get out with my bow. I hope all you gun hunters feel the same. One of the best moments of the year for me is November 15th when you hear that first shot ring off around 7 AM, knowing that opening day is hear, if you don't get a rush from that, then I don't know what does!!!
