Default Franklin Creek State Natural Area- Illinois

Just wondering if any of you guys/ladies have ever hunted down there? I would like to go try it out but I dont know if I am fond of walking by a guy with a gun/bow in his hand... Is this area any good for hunting? I just found it on the DNR site and realized its only 30 minutes south of me if that

I have hunted near there, about a half a mile. its has lots of deer in and around the area but the park has a stable area and horseback riding is open in the hunting areas. I might hunt it this year. Where are you from? Im from dixon, about 15min from the park.

My lease runs next to that park. It really is not as crowded as you may think on the weekends. Typically, I see 8-10 cars/trucks in the various parking areas. I think you ought to try it since you are so close and there alot of deer in the area.

Yeah I might go try it out then- I read that you cant use tree stands so I might just walk in and hide in a fellen tree or something. Maybe ill call and see if I can go walk around in there some day this week to try and find good spots.

I know I've seen guys with climbers. I believe you can use a portable stand, but have to take down when you leave. Calling would be the best bet. If I remember the person who manages it, I'll edit this message.
