I live just north of Grand Rapids, and you will be hitting it about right. Maybe just ending pre-rut and start hitting the hard stuff. They are slightly chsing around here and now coming into calls. In the U.P. have heard bucks are ready to mate!

nvrhapy, where abouts in Harrison? We have 40 acres of swamp surrounded by crops and hardwoods on Brand Road about a mile and a quarter south of Mansiding. Been hunting this property for a good long time. About eight or so years ago there were so many deer you'd trip over them walking in and out. In years past between the farmers' block permits and the DNR handing out endless doe permits, the population was down for a bit. The last two years though there have been good numbers with some great bucks running around.

You should be hitting the rut in full swing. I've hunted that week before gun many times and the bucks are insane that time of year.

Well I think the rut started a little early by us/ In the Baldwin area. Last week I was able to get a 7 point to come some grunting. Plus after I shot him we noticed his neck was very swollen already. And have been trailing doe's alittle more too. Not heavy in the rut yet. but its early for that kinda of activity for us. I have 40 acres in Watson in the U.P. Havent seen alot of deer activity . we have 8 acres food plotted also. The rumer I'm hearing from the DNR. Is in our area the numbers are down. Sad too. We didnt go up to hunt last year. figured we leave them completly alone for a year. Hopefully there wrong. We will see. We have our best luck the 2nd weekend of opening of rifle. Good luck to all this year!!!!
