That is a lot earlier than I have ever seen one, but maybe you just have one horny old buck roaming around up there. I don't normally start to see scrapes until mid October, but supposedly if you see them really early then you have an old buck around who knows what is coming and he is already getting ready. That or one was digging for some food and it just looked like a scrape. Let's hope for the first.

I have seen them in mid to late Sep up here but not this early. It was under a mature pine....no chance of food there, unless they started eating worms.

I didn't pay any attention to where you were from at first. I suppose your rut would happen a bit earlier than it does here??? I assume it does if you see scrapes in mid September. Best of luck this season!!

I found a couple 2 days ago in central wi along with rubs and yesterday found abotu 5 more scrapes, no additional rubs that i could see anyway. yes a bit early.wonder if it has anything to do with the drought we had this year.

2years ago I found some in the first week of september, the bucks started coming out of velvet that year the second week in August.
Also spotlighting some fields in Early September I seen a Young buck mounted on a Doe. Every year is different around here.

Bloodcreek, I too found a scrape where I hunt in Southern IN. That was in the last week of August! I was shocked.
