Default kansas hunters...seeing much???

Been out about 5-6 times this year, I know it isn`t much. But, I have not seen much in the way of rut action going on. I haven`t found to many rubs or scrapes and the bucks I have seen all seem to be grouped together still. Just Sunday night had three buck all come out at dusk together, they did spar for a while so that was cool anyway, never seen that in person. Hows things looking in your neighborhood?

I am not very excited about the drive from TN. this is my third trip to KS. for deer maybe this will be the year. Anyway good luck and I hope the kicks in soon.

badluck, I was back in Ks. the weekend of Oct. 26th and 27th doing some bow hunting in N.C. Ks., and there weren't any bucks with does yet then, but I did find an active scrape line and one fresh rub. I'm heading back there again tomorrow eve. to boe hunt Fri. and then mix bow hunting in with bird hunting for 5 days, so hope action is picking up by then. Looks like it's warming back up some, hope that doesn't hurt hunting any! Couple of my buddies back there have been trying some lite rattling back there with no takers as of last Monday eve. So, according to what they have seen also, rut hasn't kicked in yet! Good Luck!

I've been hunting about 1-2 times a day in the last couple weeks. Won't be able to get out until next weekend again though. The deer movement IMO, is better than the last 2 years by far.(ALREADY) This cold weather is making for a great rut. I haven't had any luck calling deer in. I have seen big bucks out in the middle of open feilds during the day, sometimes chasing does, othertimes just going through a mile of open feilds to get from one creek to another. I've watched a lot of nice bucks working scrapes and rub lines. Been seeing a lot of fresh rubs and scrpaes. The pre-rut was going hard last week, and by this weekend it should be in full. The buck I arrowed last weekend dressed 180, but I measured a tight 23" neck. A normal 180 lb buck around here should be around 21". I've watched several nice ones, and they're just acting weird, like there is only one thing on there mind. This is just what I've found out, from my experiences of hunting hard in the past couple weeks.

Talked to my brother who lives and hunts around Havensville, Ks., which is in the N.E. corner of the state, and he rattled in 4 bucks in the last 2 days, with agressive rattling and grunting, so calling is working well, at least in that part of the state.

The bucks are really tearing up the trees and marking up scrape lines in the woods I hunt. Seen a few bucks harrassing does but nothing major yet. The next 2 weeks will be awesome. I'm heading to SC Kansas for 4 days on Saturday.
