I thought hunters used to be able to hunt the land for free?????? The Lumber Co's got tax breaks....

Some places ya can. But others you have to lease. Leasing is more appealing in my opinion because for a fairly cheap price you can have your own land where no one else can hunt without permission. Instead of it being public.

Work is for people who don't know how to hunt!
Maybe check a Platbook on area's you would like to hunt and contact the lumber company personal,They should be able to guide you through it.
Good luck on your quest.

live2hunt, If you're looking to hunt in Central Wisconsin the Tigerton Lumber Company I know leases land. I'm originally from Tigerton and in the past 5 years or so they've changed around ten thousand acres of public land into leased properties. It's a great hunting area. If you need any more information let me know, I probably can dig up some infor for you.
Good Luck,
Paul
