Default Iowa tags?

I have been hunting in Iowa for a while now. And prices go here and there. I heard something to the effect that the tags were going up to $400 this year and the non-residents were getting a buck and a doe tag. Does anyone know anything about that?

I was told by a guy at the DNR that tags would be $400.50 and you would get an either sex tag and an anterless tag. I still haven't seen anything in writing yet though.

I have heard this as well, but it hasn't gone through legislation yet. Hopefully it won't pass! I have no idea why they think adding a doe tag to an any-sex tag is going to help the doe population one bit! Ya...like guys are going to pay over $400 and shoot a doe 1st...if they shoot one at all.

It has gone through, but it isn't an earn a buck. It is just like before, but now you also get an anterless tag. I deal with alot of non residents, and most of them say they would shoot a doe if they had an extra tag. Although if we have such a doe problem, I'm not sure why they are charging an extra $100. I think the $309 was plenty. I believe the DNR wants the help with the herd, but the only way the legislature would go for giving more tags was to jack up the price, because they know people will pay it.

yeah i heard this too. I along with my dad and uncle have been hunting in iowa forover 5 years now as non-residents with a group of resident hunters. i feel it is absolutely rediculous how much the tags cost already, nevertheless they (DNR) wants more. It would make more sense if you could pay maybe $20 for an antlerless tag if you already have an either-sex tag. However, i guess as long as there are "idiots" likeME willing to pay, they will keep raising the price. Cause it sure is fun and its another excuse to hunt.
